Orange Bowl: Georgia demolishes Florida State 63-3

Entering the Orange Bowl, the Florida State Seminoles had something to prove after being the first undefeated power five school to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. The only highlight from the Orange Bowl for the Seminoles will be forcing the Bulldogs on their opening drive. This game was all Bulldogs as they scored nine touchdowns in the Orange Bowl with backups playing a majority of the second half.

For the Bulldogs Carson Beck got the start as expected passing 13-18 for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He handed the reins over to true freshman Gunner Stockton who got his first chance at extended playing time in the Orange Bowl. Stockton played well passing for 96 yards and two touchdowns on ten attempts.

Where Georgia dominated was in the rushing attack with ten players getting onto the stat sheet with rushing attempts. Kendall Milton rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, Roederick Robinson II added 70 yards and Daijun Edwards rushed for 62 of his own as the Bulldogs totaled 372 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

The Bulldogs will come away from the Orange Bowl with plenty of tape on some of their younger players as true freshman and underclassmen played a majority of the second half. The starters looked like the team that spent a majority of the last two years as the countries top team.

For the Seminoles the Orange Bowl will be a game to forget. While there were plenty of opt outs on both sides of the game the Seminoles expected to play better than they did losing by 60 points. The loss puts an added sour taste in the mouths of the fans as the end of the season was a nightmare. Losing your Heisman contender quarterback and winning out to be left out of the playoff and then losing by 60 in your bowl game is as bad as it gets. Mike Norvell did get a decent look and some tape to evaluate as younger players who had a chance to play the game.

Orange Bowl: Big Takeaways from the game

This game should not define the Seminoles season, it’s important to remember that this team was without a majority of their key players due to opt outs. This is still a successful season for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles as he tries to continue his rebuild of the program. Florida State will have an interesting question to answer as Brock Glenn struggled and they have no clear quarterback for the 2024 season.

The Georgia Bulldogs used the Orange Bowl to prove they had every right to say they belonged in the College Football Playoff. The twelve-team playoff will be massive for both teams in the Orange Bowl as well as some of the Nation’s top teams as it’ll be a formality that the Bulldogs and the Seminoles make the playoff.
